Dear Visa Officer,
I came to the US embassy to apply for a visa on June 20,1996 ,but the officer there didnot issue me the visa. The reason ,as he said ,is "You are 26 ,unmarried. Your salary inChina is 500 RMB. When you go to the US, you will not come back". I think this logicis completely inapplicable to me.
26,unmarried is a very common situation for a young man who pursues a Ph. D. de-gree. Hundreds of people of this kind went to study in the US every year. I have neverheard that a man has to marry a lady before he can get a US visa. He is not responsibleto his own life if a man really does that.
I have no relations in the US. My parents, my brothers, my other relations and myfriends are all in China. I need them, and they need me. They are very important forme to live a happy life ,and I have a lot of responsibilities to them ,especially to my par-ents. Isn't the relationship between son and parents a strong connection?
The salary of 500 RMB for a teacher is not high, but the job is less stressful and I havetime to prepare for the standard examinations and the materials that needed for my ap-plication for admission to US universities. I have spent 2 years of time and 30, 000RMB (borrowed) in it. I think my endeavor is rewarding. I have been admitted andoffered plenty of financial aid by Georgia State University. I have resigned the job ofteacher, full of hone to my future. |
